I don’t know why I don’t weigh 400 lbs. Good genes and pure blind luck, I suppose, because I do love to eat!
When dining out, I naturally have favorite places to eat ... if you’re ever down my way, stop by and I’ll take you to eat at the Broadway Diner.
Come hungry, because they are super generous with their portion sizes.
If you are a dessert lover, you’re really in for a treat ... they have a dessert case filled with homemade cakes and pies. The strawberry cheesecake is my personal favorite. Come planning to eat dessert only, or a dinner with carry-out dessert ... you will not be able to eat a Broadway dinner and follow up with dessert at one sitting. Trust me.
It’s fun to take folks there on their first visit, just to see their initial reaction to that menu ... 12 laminated, legal-size pages of over 500 items – well, 11 pages, if you don’t count the cover – we lovingly call it the War and Peace of menus. You can have any kind of breakfast all day as well as chops, steaks, burgers, ribs, fish, shrimp, chicken, wings, salads, Italian, Greek, Mexican, sandwiches, wraps, and soups, as well as any of the 4-5 daily specials with soup or veggies of the day.
On my first visit I was a bit skeptical that they could handle that kind of variety and still be good ... but they do it! You can go there many times and not get bored.
So why, of all things, am I talking about a restaurant menu?
Because I’m in a rut.
At the Broadway Diner, there are probably 20-30 items on the menu that I really like, yet I tend to always order the same 2-3 things over and over. And I do the same when I’m drawing.
In The Meek and the Mighty articles I show how to plan and draw characters, starting off with simple stick figures. In Part 3 I show how to, beginning with the stick figures, layout a scene with multiple and various characters. In the process I realized that I seem to draw the same basic character over and over.
Different characters, for sure ... young and old, guys and gals ... but they all have the same basic body build, the same basic clothing styles, simple hair styles, etc. Especially on the drawings I do for my social media posts.
It’s time to up my game a bit ...
Thanks for sharing.
