If you went to the White House and tried to get an audience with the President, it’s very unlikely you would be received very well. You might get carted off to a cell while they check you out. And even if they deem you to be not dangerous, I seriously doubt there’s going to be any kind of meeting.

But right this minute, you can call out to the Creator of everything and have His ear. The same Creator who placed the stars in Orion’s belt, who arranged the continents and oceans on our globe, who knows when a sparrow falls to the ground and can tell you the number of hairs on your head.

It’s astounding ... He doesn’t need us ... He wants us!!

Who could ever believe it?

The world will scoff at the nonsense of it all. Escapists, they call us. Out of touch with reality. They can be pretty convincing ... is that “good news” really true?

But then you meet Him. His Spirit speaks to your spirit – a must, because truth is spiritually discerned, our natural minds cannot understand – and, then, the invitation to join with Him is extended ... and when you accept the invitation, your life will never be the same ...

His ways are not our ways. We still have our eyes set on earthly things. But He sees the big picture ... things we couldn’t understand even if He explained it all to us.

Like Peter cutting off the soldier’s ear in an effort to rescue Jesus from being seized. Or all of the disciples being miffed at Him, because they were really expecting Him to lead them in a revolt against the brutal Roman government, we come to Him with all of our plans and ideas to try to impress Him. But He’s not interested in that.

It’s not about us, it’s all about Him. We don’t work for Him, but rather He does His own work through us. He doesn’t share His glory with anyone, and all the glory is His. But He absolutely will invite us to join Him in His work, and what an honor and a privilege that turns out to be.

Each of us on planet earth arrives on the scene with a unique set of personality traits, raw talents, and skills.

Our job is the process of sorting through it all, figuring out what’s there, how to develop and use it, and where we’ll fit into the world using what we got. It’s very important to us to know that we have purpose and that what we do makes a difference in the world. Writers and drawers of children’s books are the same.

But when we accept His invitation, we don’t belong to us anymore ... we are His. It’s time to remove ourselves from being in charge of ourselves, and put Him on the throne of our hearts. Then we take all those traits, talents and skills that came from Him originally, and put them all back under His control to do with as He will.

Now when we go to our offices and into our studios to produce our work, it’s not so much about pleasing ourselves or impressing the world, but rather, asking Him to lead us in our work and use it for His purposes to make a difference in someone’s life.

We’ve seen the craziness that is our world and how it affects all of us as well as our children and young people.

We can teach them all kind of skills from sewing and cooking to how to deal with online bullying.

Through the stories we tell, we can teach them important life principles and morals. We can encourage them, inspire them, make them laugh, make them think, make them wonder.

Heck, we could even teach them how to write and draw ... we’re not going to be able to do this indefinitely, you know, and somebody needs to take it up when we’re gone.

We don’t know what they need, but He does.

So we’ll partner with Him ... turning it all over to Him and trusting Him with the results.
